Last night Lynette and I were talking about baby names. She really does like the name Sophie, it's just that the way the name was presented to her she's not allowing herself to like it and give in to whatever name I chose. It's a valid point.
But we were talking about all sorts of names and I realized that I would love to name our little boy... Nathan Jr. You know, after the baby from Raising Arizona. In the movie after finding out Nick Cage and Holly Hunter can't have kids of their own they steal a child from Nathan Arizona who just had quints. After the theft they are talking in the car and Nick says, "I think I got the best one. I think that's Nathan Jr." And Holly just breaks down and cries the words, "I love him so much." It's a statement in absurdity and I love it.
Is their any rule about naming your child Jr when there is no Sr to speak of?
I bargained away naming rights on this child if Lynette can find me a little boy to name Nathan Jr. It doesn't even have to be ours. We could steal it. That seems to be how this thing works anyway.

no no no.. I love Sofie, and Grant already knows who little cousin Sofie IS!
As to the jr. ... I think that is reserved only for boys (because the last name won't ever change) who have the same FULL name as the father... but you could always use jr as a middle name :)
Although, David's friend Junior is really named Jeffrey. He wasn't a junior originally, but when his mom remarried his step-dad's name was jeff so he just got stuck with junior. That has nothing to do with your blog entry, but I thought is was an odd little story.
Funny you should choose this movie... Mike... remember this movie?? It was one of the first movies we went to together... we hated it, but we couldn't seem to get away from it... kept renting it at the video store...
You know Trace, it's possibly my favorite movie. I love it more and more every time I watch it.
I once knew a guy whose first name was actually Junior. No reason.
Well once I knew a guy with a wooden leg named Smith.
...what was the name of his other leg??
Hey, if you kids don't knock it off with your jokes...
I'll turn this blog around and go home!
