Our OB appointment

Today I joined Lynette at the Obstetricians office. We were called back and in the patient room for near an hour while waiting for the OB to come in. Lynette was prety impatient... with me. She wouldn't let me call the nurse, play with the toys, use the soap to write messages on the window, look down her throat with the little scope, take her neck's blood pressure, get into the used needle case or anything. I was bored.

The doctor, who was not her normal doctor, finally came in and relayed that the nurse was not aware, but she had been off delivering a baby, it took longer than expected. My response was something like, "What? It takes an hour to deliver a baby?!?! I thought the labor was something I we could do on my lunch break, and I'd still have time to get Arby's"

But she was really nice. I think I like Dr. Smith more than Dr. Gregory. Though there is nothing wrong with Dr. Gregory. Dr Smith was very helpful, patiently asking and answering any questions we had. Sympathizing with Lynette's pelvic pain while explaining the specifics behind it's occurance and what Lynette can do to help.

Though no one told me this, I got the impression that Dr. Gregory would rather see Lynette go into labor naturally, regardless of the baby's size (to an extent). Seems like Dr. Smith would rather induce rather than seeing Lynette giving birth to a 9 lb + baby, regardless of time (to an extent). I like both opinions. I don't know which I would chose. But it's nice to see that both doctors, and others, are working with each other. Makes me feel more comfortable about their decisions.

Wow... inducing vs. natural labor. ... I think you should leave this one up to Lynette! (although it is really more up to the dr that she sees at the time. )

I always thought it would be SO much fun to go into labor naturally though! Like a big surprise party !!!!!!!!

Do you know how big she is now??? I can't wait to see my little baby Sofia

Yup--leave that one up to the one who does the work. Speaking of on your lunch break. I was listening to Kenny somebody on the Laugh USA on the way home from Mike and Chris's and he said they treated new babies like food. They wipe off the baby stuff, wrap them up like a burrito and put them under a french fry lamp.

So when we had Logan we went to an office that was similar to the one that you are going to, where there is more than one OBGYN. The funniest thing to me was that the doctor that delivered Logan we had never met at all. He came in the night before (because we induced) and said, "Hello I am Dr. Cox and I thought that I would introduce myself before I came in tomarrow morning and started messing around down there the first time that I ever met you......ohh, Kelli Rippa" Okay I added that last part but the Doctor that delivered Logan was actually Dr. Cox I thought that was cool. So maybe you have actually met one of the doctors taht will be in the delivery room.
I gotta agree with Jesse about the leave it up to Lynette. One more is that with both kids I have left every option about delivery up to Christine and have been supportive the whole way. With Micha she took Staydol and she hated it so when she told me that she did not want to feel that way again ever and did not want to take it with the next one........the next time they offered it and I thought that the answer was no but she wanted it ......Cool then get her some staydol! You heard the woman GET TO WORK ON THAT ONE! Now I was not that demanding but you get my point. Rule #1 with labor: Do not argue with or try to convince the person in labor of anything!
Just make what they want to happen happen. But following these rules I can say that Christine has been the best person ever to be in delivery with. It is nothing like..."You did this to me, or other screams that the movies depict"

This is as much my baby as Lynette's. That means that delivery day is as much about me as her? Right?

No, I realize that this is all about Lynette. She gets what she wants. I have no real opinion about natural vs. inducing. Lynette doesn't really either. But we figure that whatever we want, the doctor's opinion will outweigh ours.

And if Lynette asks for Staydol, I'll get out my beakers and bunson burners and whip it up myself. She WILL have whatever she wants that day.

As for the baby's size, she was 3 10 at Lynette's last sonogram. Lynette has another sonogram on the 8th, I think.

Hello... being in the middle of moving while you are weeks away from having a child is no excuse for dropping off the face of the internet-based earth.

Come back to us!
