The Baby's Room

Lynette was talking to our friend Sarah (who is now expecting with their second, Wooo Hooo!) and talking about how we finally moved into this place and now have a room for the baby. Lynette was feeling a little bad that we only had 2 months before the room needs to be done. Sarah tried to make Lynette feel better by telling her how Sarah's baby room wasn't finished until Sarah was 7 months pregnant as well.

But When Lynette was 7 months pregnant we hadn't even started. In fact, when she was exactly 32 weeks, we didn 't even own a babys room. But now we do. And though there are still some bits and ends to finish up, we are actually ready-ish. There is some organization and a couple of things left to buy. And Lynette wants to sponge the walls to make them look pretty. But here you go. And if you look at the crib, you will see hoe many clothes we have. Before the baby is born, we have alredy filled a rubbermaid tub of stuff that we are giving away.

On a side note, not only do I realize that we are 6 weeks away from Lynette's due date. I also realize that when the doctor said that she hopes Lynette will go into labor at 36-37 weeks. That's only 2 weeks away.

Though I realize that waiting is in the cards, and I'm very used to waiting. It's crazy to think that Lynette is nearing the point of being ready at a moments notice to have our child.

STOP GETTING ME SO EXCITED. I swear between you and Mike... you all are trying to get me to move down there this whole summer aren't you. Admit it... just admit it!!!!! (Yes, I am making both yours and Mike babies all about me!)

On a side note, I think I had the exact same high chair and crib!! If you need a cover for that high chair I have one..... somewhere.

We could never figure out our diaper genie. We had it given to us I think. Actually we may have had two. So we just had a diaper pail, very simple just push the lever. Let me know how that works for you. I am curious to know if they are really cool, like we thought it would be.

Mike, that is exactly what I told Lynette when she was registering... The genie seems really cool, but I've never known anyone who knew how to work the darn thing!!!

It was given to us by Lynette's sister-in-law who basically told us she never learned how to work it. If we could get it to work, we can use it.

Lynette did register for another diaper thing. It just uses plain trash bags and is only slightly different than a normal trash can.

So if everyone says this is a terrible thing that no one can figure out how to work it, how does it sell so much?

i am finally on here for the first time since we left MI... and look what I see... this absolutely fabulous dresser. So i read the entire post without a mention of the wonderful thing.. but then scroll down to see that you've been talking about it all week!
That thing is fab. u. lous! I'm impressed and amazed that you stripped and painted it yourself too. Wowie zow!
The room looks great...
and take it from me... baby doesn't actually go in their own room until they are 3 or 4 months... unless you are a Fletcher firstborn... then you don't sleep in your own room till you are 2 ! :O)

Yes Sarah, you are famous. I imagine that you can start printing business cards that say, "As seen on Fletcharia"

And yes Tracy. I imagine that we will spend a few nights allowing our baby to sleep in their own room. Simply because that's where that baby goes. I didn't move into a 2 bedroom apartment just to leave 1 room as baby storage.

I assume FletcherFive's comment are the lyrics to the happy dance.

would it be alright with you if I remind you of these words in a few months... say next year when you are trying to get little baby bunting to get OUT of your bed for just ONE night...

I only kid becuase I've been there... I once said I wasn't going to give my kids pacifiers... and yet, the oldest kept going back to hers until her fifth birthday... and my other two sucked fingers until this year. THIS year. Both of them.

good luck with the room thing. In the end... don't feel guilty for doing what you think is right. Whatever that is. Sometimes you feel guilty for leaving them in their room alone, sometimes you feel bad for keeping them with you all the time. Just love your choice. It is all good in the end.
